It's time for some Book Love, Part 2: the more interesting part, wherein I give away free books.
Ready? Sure ya are.
RULES: Post a comment to this entry, listing one book you've read in the past month (and hopefully liked) and one book you're looking forward to reading. Links and friend/self book pimping entirely allowed. Contest will be open until 9 AM Mountain time Thursday. (Sadly, no entries outside the U.S. and Canada this time--the last winner was from Australia, and shipping cost more than the books!) I'll throw the names of posters in a random generator (because I'm lazy that way) and pick one lucky winner. Said winner will get to CHOOSE TWO BOOKS from the following selection:
Okay, NOW are ya ready? GO!!!!!
I read David Sedaris's Me Talk Pretty One Day and I have been looking forward to David Guterson's The Others. It is next on my TBR pile.
ReplyDeleteI read Lee Child's The Killing Floor this month, and I'm looking forward to Rosemary Clement-Moore's Hell Week. (If you read YA, I highly recommend her first book, Prom Dates From Hell.)
ReplyDeleteOooh, might have to copy your idea and do one of these on my blog! :)
ReplyDeleteI read Nicole Krauss's The History of Love. Next up on my TBR bookcase is Maureen Freely's Enlightenment.
I read WHEN YOU ARE ENGULFED IN FLAMES by David The Most Awesomest Sedaris.
ReplyDeleteI also loved DEATH BY BIKINI by Linda Gerber, after glomming it up in one afternoon.
Next on the list is PILLARS OF THE EARTH, which has been sitting on my TBR pile for a year.
I re-read Jo's My Lord and Spymaster, and I'm looking forward to reading A Great and Terrible Beauty.
ReplyDeleteHow about you?
One of the books I read this month was A Curse Dark as Gold by Elizabeth C. Bunce -- awesome.
ReplyDeleteA book I'm dying to read is Jackie Kessler's Hotter Than Hell. It's written from a male's POV, a Demon of Lust to be exact. :D
Sedaris really is totally awesome. His sister's not bad either.
ReplyDelete{Is it hubris or just terribly wishful thinking that I've already picked out the 2 books I'd request if I were to win?}
I read Life as We Knew It and The Compound. Looking forward to reading Soul Enchilada.
ReplyDeleteYAY entries!!
ReplyDeleteTara: Mine are covered in the last post. Basically, I just read all these, and I have way too many in my TBR pile. But I'm still enjoying collecting all y'all's recs!
Precie: LOL! Both, maybe. Which two?
13 Little Blue Envelopes and A Great and Terrible Beauty.
ReplyDeleteThe others interest me too, but those two make me drool. One of the reasons I don't already own them is that I've been placed on a book-buying moratorium. It ain't pretty.
I just read Impossible by Nancy Werlin and am looking forward to The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan.
ReplyDeleteYay books!
ReplyDeleteI read... The Birth House by Ami McKay and I look forward to reading Daughter of War by Marsha Skrypuch!
Among many other books :-))
Hi! I've read NICK AND NORA'S INFINITE PLAYLIST and I'm looking forward to reading AUDREY, WAIT!
ReplyDeleteGreat Contest!
-Suz
Suzanne: Oooh, I want to read Nick and Nora! I was just peeking at it yesterday. Was it good?
ReplyDeleteI have read David McCullough's 1776 in preparation for Diana Gabaldon's Echo In the Bone to be published end of 2009. I am enjoying the history lesson. I also look forward to reading the Maytrees by Amie Dillon.
ReplyDeleteI recently read Maureen Johnson's Devilish. Very cute and funny!
ReplyDeleteAnd right now I'm looking forward to reading Graceling by Kristin Cashore.
My boss sent me a copy of ONE FOR THE MONEY by Janet Evanovich, so I read that this month. I liked it, reminded me of Sue Grafton and Karen Kijewski.
ReplyDeleteNext on my list is THE KITE RUNNER by Khaled Husseini.
Yay giveaways! I've read I Know It's Over by C.K. Kelly Martin (and I LOVED it) and I'm totally looking forward to Soulless by Christopher Golden (yay zombies!).
ReplyDeleteLeft a comment yesterday and it didn't take! ARGGGGHH!!!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, last book that I LOVED was one I actually listened to on CD: Thomas Cahill's "Medieval Mysteries." Not only was the content outstanding, but it was read by a guy who sounds just like Jack Whyte, only British.
On the table: Georgiana: Duchess of Devonshire
